My name is Mikaela, I have always had a love for fun clothing and accessories, but as I've matured and learnt about the industry, I realised fashion as it is currently doesn't really align with my values. I'm here to change that!

More and more people are realising the impact that fast fashion has on our world and are opting for more sustainable choices, whether that be supporting small businesses with ethical goals, buying second hand or even making your own clothes!

Why the name?

Honestly, I spent so long trying to decide on a name for this new adventure. It was my first big hurdle, I felt like I couldn't move forward without a name.


When we moved into our house a few years ago, we were blessed with a tiny grandma cat, who affectionately became known as Kitty. She was actually 4th hand and we knew little about her other than she was the sweetest thing who brought us so much joy! After going through random name generators and trolling the internet for inspo, I was sitting on the lounge room floor with a bunch of randomĀ things on my paper and only the word retro in my head when BAM I looked at Kitty and Retro Kitty was born!

I think it only fitting to tie my two loves together, secondhand fashion and our beloved Kitty, considering she too was technically second hand! This was in March 2022, and I would love to be able to share more photos and stories of her, but unfortunately we had to say goodbye on December 10th 2022.

Retro Kitty already brings me so much joy because it reminds me of one of my favourite things in the world, and I hope I can bring joy to my fellow clothing lovers by sharing fun and affordable second hand goodies.
